Technical support service for users of the Kaluga branch of Rostelecom. Universal router from Rostelecom F st 2804 v7 connection

This article is dedicated to the Sagemcom f@st 2804 device. In the recent past, Rostelecom and MTS began to actively promote it. The latter supplies it under the name “MTS Universal Router”.

Upon closer examination, it turns out that this device combines the functions of a 3G, ADSL, and Ethernet router. In addition, it can work as a wi-fi access point that supports 802.11 n/g/b. Additional bonus: supported IPTV. The router's equipment is not very rich, but, nevertheless, everything you need is there.

Please note that MTS offers two models that differ in appearance and software (V1 and V3). The latest firmware versions of the MTS universal router allow you to connect more than 13 modem models to it.

By the way, you can download the latest version of the software, installation and recovery instructions on the official website.

Rostelecom offers a V7 version of the device. But their website, unfortunately, cannot boast of the presence of fresh software. There is only a brief specification of the device universal router f st 2804, and instructions.

The router, manufactured by Sagemcom, allows you to connect to the Internet via a high-speed connection.

The most notable characteristics of this router:

  1. high-speed connection via telephone cable, while the telephone itself is free;
  2. support for IPTV transmission to digital set-top box;
  3. accessing and managing multimedia content.

The device is equipped with a modern, powerful processor that allows you to connect to the Internet at maximum speed, in addition, it is possible to view several high-definition IPTV channels at the same time.

Wireless device interface router fast 2804 V7

The Sagemcom router supports the 801.11b/g/n WFA specification. It also has a 2x2 transmit/receive configuration, thanks to which the actual connection speed reaches 80 Mbps. The following modern security protocols are supported: MAC address filtering, WPA, WPA2, WEP. The router is equipped with a function for automatic selection of a radio channel and a separate button, which provides convenience and simplicity of wireless connection according to the WPS protocol. There is an additional button on the case that turns on the wireless interface.

Multimedia content

The device is capable of operating as a DLNA server version 1.5, supporting the Webdav, Samba, UPnP protocols, which allows access to multimedia content from any device. There are two USB ports through which access to a printer or external storage can be provided.

Router functions

The router supports a large number of IP services applicable to double-play routers:

  • IGMP proxy/snooping
  • DNS dynamic/server/relay
  • DHCP relay/server/client
  • Full speed IP routing

Firewall

The 2804 v7 router has a firewall with the following functions:

  • Complete address/protocol filtering/port
  • Stateful Packet Inspection

Configuring traffic through the application firewall:

  • VoIP services based on H.323 and SIP
  • a large number of WEB applications

Connection using the example of a device from MTS

Router 2804 makes it possible to implement a broadband Internet connection in an office or home network through channel reservation:

  • 3G modem, Wimax, Fon;
  • on PC and TV IP television;
  • wireless Wi Fi connection (802.11 n\b\g)

The modem is connected in the following order. We connect the cable to the RJ-11 connector via a splitter. The universal router is connected to the computer via an Ethernet cable; for this purpose, there are four connectors on the back of the router. The external modem is connected to USB port, then the router itself connects to the network.

An external modem can be used to reserve an Internet channel. If the main channel is interrupted, the device will automatically switch to a connection via an external modem.

Setting up the router

Having established an Ethernet connection, open the browser and enter the IP address of the device. The default address is set to: 192.168.1.1. After this, the system will require authorization. We enter your username and password, or leave the default one, then in the window that opens all the settings necessary for working with the Internet appear: universal router settings, connection parameters, channel configuration, wireless connection.

A separate tab provides advanced configuration of the f st 2804 router, which is required for experienced users. Once you enter and save the required data, the connection setup is complete.

It was mentioned above about the possible reservation of a channel for those cases when the main connection is lost. This is done in the following tab: “3G channel configuration”. We put a tick in the inclusion point, and after 15 seconds. the device will automatically switch to connection via backup channel. When the main connection is restored, the router will automatically switch back.

Setting up a wireless connection, the basic parameters contain: enabling the WLAN module, the function of not detecting an access point, the Mac address of the wireless connection, network authentication and selecting the channel through which the router communicates with clients.

In the “Management” tab, you can back up setup data, update or restore the system. After updating the device software, the previously used settings are retained. The update takes place in a couple of minutes.

Let's summarize the above

The fast 2804 universal router is quite large, but working with it is very simple. The functionality of the device is high, it is possible to implement all the necessary resources, including backup switching from the main connection to an additional one. Everything described gives reason to believe that a universal router from Sagemcom will be one of the most convenient options for implementing office or home communications.

Providers Rostelecom and MTS provide subscribers with a Sagemcom ADSL router with modified firmware. If you switch to the services of a provider that “supplies” the Internet via an Ethernet cable, such a router, in particular, fast 2804 V7, can still be used. Even despite the lack of a WAN port. You just need to try to configure this device correctly.

We will consider the following connection option. This is the DHCP protocol, the easiest to configure. For the WAN port, it would be more logical to use the port closest to the ADSL connector (designated “eth3” in the setup program). So the patch cord going to the computer is connected to the LAN 1 - LAN 3 port. Be careful.

Rear panel of the router

Configuring a Sagemcom router for a DHCP connection does not require a hardware reset. If the user has the opportunity to open the interface for configuration (with some address and password), this must be done. But first, we advise you to connect the signal cables correctly.

Setting up basic functions

Router hardware connection

Connect to a PC in the same way as for setting up ADSL connections. In this case, there is no need to occupy the hardware port marked “4”.

Device connection diagram

The computer’s network card must be configured to “Auto” IP and DNS. Then, connect the provider's cable to the fourth LAN port. Lastly, connect the power (and send the PC to reboot).

You need to find out what IP address the router has, as well as the password for the configuration interface.

For the Rostelecom device, the values are as follows:

  1. router address – 192.168.1.1
  2. login for setup – admin
  3. password – too, admin

Open the web interface and make the start tab appear.

Setting up an ETTH connection

How to configure a Sagemcom router is discussed in the instructions supplied by the provider. But we don’t need the “ADSL” connection option. First of all, we perform a “soft reset”. You need the “Management” tab -> “Options...” -> “Reset”:

Soft reset

After performing the reset, go to the “Advanced settings” -> “WAN service” tab and delete all existing interfaces. There shouldn't be any left. The same is done on the “2nd level interfaces” tab:

Clearing Internet connection tables

We've shown you how to do the preliminary steps.

Now, go to the “ETH interface” tab and configure the connection:

  • Select the port number that will act as “WAN” and set the “VLAN MUX” mode:

Selecting the “WAN” port

  • We configure this port, for which we first click “Next”, then select the connection type (IP over Ethernet), click “Next”
  • We configure the “DHCP” connection option, so the IP must be “obtained automatically”:

Setting connection parameters

  • We enable NAT, Firewall and, just in case, IGMP Multicast (click “Next”)
  • How we selected the “Default Gateway”: in the left column – leave “eth 3.1”, in the right – nothing (click “Next”)
  • DNS can be set explicitly, but it is safer to use automatic retrieval:

WAN interface tab

The configured connection should work. If this is not the case, call your provider and inform them that the MAC address has changed. Happy setup!

Additionally, we note that the router of the model in question does not allow “substitution” of the MAC address.

Wireless network in the router

Actually, setting up a wireless access point is discussed in the instructions. We will briefly look at how to configure a Sagemcom wifi router so that an “unprotected” wireless network appears.

Open the “WLAN Settings” -> “Basic” tab. We check that the “Enable wireless communication” checkbox is checked (and also “Enable multicast transmission ...”). We set the SSID, that is, the network name, and click the button labeled “Apply/Save”.

Setting up a wireless network

It is important to know that we configured the router in such a way as to make it possible to watch IPTV (via any PC connected to the router’s network). The IPTV option for STB set-top boxes is configured differently.

In fact, to broadcast IPTV to a local network, all that remains is to enable “IGMP Snooping” in the “Advanced Settings” on the “LAN” tab.

Happy routing!

The film shows an option for setting up a Wi-Fi network with encryption:

One of the largest providers of telecommunications services, PJSC Rostelecom, is constantly expanding the range of offers for users. In this regard, there was a need for universal device, with which the user can connect to the Internet, use interactive television and wireless mobile communications. To do this, you will have to buy and figure out how to configure a router from Rostelecom Sagemcom f st 2804 v7 rev 1. This is not difficult to do using our tips.

The main task of routers is to distribute traffic between Internet users and those who use interactive television (IPTV) services. The Rostelecom Sagemcom f st 2804 v7 rev 1 router, in addition, is capable of performing other equally important tasks, including:

  • The ability to create a backup Internet channel, which is extremely important given the possibility of an unexpected power outage.
  • Use as a network server, for which it is possible to connect a hard drive.
  • A router can be used to connect multiple devices to a network printer.

The device has a classic appearance and standard settings, and you can learn a lot about the status of its operation by looking at the front panel of the device. Here you will find an on/off indicator, a DSL indicator indicating the presence of an ADSL connection, an Internet connection indicator, a WLAN indicator indicating readiness for Wi-Fi work module. There are also indicators indicating that one or more devices are connected to the Ethernet port, as well as the presence of a connection via WPS. If portable Internet was connected to the router, the USB indicator will give a signal.

On the back of the device you will find a power connector, an on/off button, and a hidden RESET button that allows you to return to factory settings, if necessary. There is also an ADSL connector and several LAN connectors. Several functional buttons and a USB connector are located on the right side panel, and their purpose can be found in the instructions for the Rostelecom Sagemcom f st 2804 v7 rev 1 modem, supplied with each device.

Connecting wires

Before proceeding with connecting the device, you need to remove it from the packaging and install it in the desired location. Let's move on to the connection, for which we take it out of the package and connect the power cord. If you are using a telephone connection, you must insert a telephone cable connected through a splitter to the telephone line. If you use fiber optic Internet, insert the Internet cable into one of the four LAN connectors.

Let's start studying the status of the indicators on the front panel. The POWER button will indicate that the device is connected to the network, while the DSL-Link indicator will indicate that the router is receiving a signal from the service provider. As for the LAN indicator, its signal indicates correct connection cable. After making sure that the device is working, you can proceed to the basic settings of the Sagemcom f st 2804 v7 rev 1 router from PJSC Rostelecom.

Login to the WEB interface and reset all settings

Before you get started, you will have to log in and enter the online interface, for which you just need to launch one of installed browsers. In the address bar of the browser, enter the address of the router for subsequent configuration of the Sagemcom f st 2804 v7 rev 1 router under Rostelecom, which can be found on the bottom cover of the device, although quite often you have to use a used router, which means that the sticker with the address may be missing . You can find it by examining the connection properties, but you will need the “Main Gateway” data. After entering the address, you will have to log in, and the authorization data is also on the sticker. Now that you were able to enter the settings of the Sagemcom router, let's proceed to the network connection settings and other necessary settings.

Important! The RTK router comes with a disk that allows you to configure the device automatically, but experts do not recommend doing this, since in this case a large number of “junk” connections will appear.

Direct Internet setup

To complete the setup process, connecting to the Internet and final configuration of the Wi-Fi router f st 2804 v7 rev 1, go to the “Advanced” tab, where in the WAN service section you will have to get rid of all existing connections. In a similar way, unnecessary information from the “2nd Level Interface” section is also deleted. After clicking on the “Add” button, the Sagemcom f st 2804 equipment setup wizard will prompt you to enter VCI and VPI data, and they differ depending on your location. Effective assistance will always be provided by the RTK technical support service. We apply and save the settings, then in the WAN service tab we add the newly created connection and indicate its type (standard PPPoE).

Remember! At the next stage of setting up fast 2804 v7, you will be asked to enter the user login and the key for the PPP connection. You can find them in the agreement with PJSC Rostelecom.

After entering your registration data, don’t forget to check the box next to “Repeat PPP”. You can confirm the final configuration of the basic parameters of the installed router by clicking the apply and save button, after which you can move on to other settings. Next we will tell you how to install and configure Wi-Fi router fast 2804 v7 for dummies, and this is also not difficult to do.

Setting up a Wi-Fi connection

To configure the configuration and universal setup of the Sagemcom Wi-Fi router from Rostelecom, you need to go to the “Main” section of the WLAN category, where you will have to enable the wireless network and multicast transmission (you will find these items without problems). In the “Security” category, it remains to specify the authentication options (WPA-PSK) and encryption method (TKIP and AES). After entering an access key consisting of at least eight characters, the settings can be saved by pressing the button of the same name. At this point, setting up the router can be considered complete, but to make sure that you have completed the simple task of setting up the Sagemcom f st 2804 v7 rev 1 router from Rostelecom, you need to reboot - in the “Management” section, click the appropriate button. After the reboot, you can start working.

Setting up for working with a TV set-top box

In conclusion, I would like to talk about how to configure a router if you want to work with a TV set-top box. This is also easy to do - just find the “Second-level interface” tab in the settings where you will have to create an additional connection with new VPI and VCI values. Traditionally, a new object is created in the WAN service (a new connection is selected). In the LAN tab, the DHCP server is disabled, after which the “IGMP Snooping” and “IGMP Proxy on the Bridge” parameters are activated.

Red LED when turned on Sagemcom f@st 2804 means loading firmware. If it constantly blinks and does not turn green, then this indicates that firmware can't boot.

The other day they brought me a modem Rostelecom Sagemcom f@st 2804. The problem was that the modem only had one red LED on. This problem appeared after the lights were turned off in the house. To be honest, I doubt that was the problem. I think the user decided to flash the modem and used the wrong firmware. But I will not dispute the problem, since I am not a SC, and I don’t care where the problem came from. The main thing is the very existence of a problem that needs to be corrected.

Sagemcom f@st 2804 is supplied by Rostelecom. Therefore, we will use the Sagemcom f@st 2804 firmware for Rostelecom.

Let's go to the official FTP server of Rostelecom:

Latest firmware for Sagemcom 2804 v7 - .

Latest firmware for Sagemcom 2804 v7 rev1 - .

Download the firmware we need. After that we go to " Local network connections" or " Configuring adapter settings" on Windows 10. In principle, many computers will be able to find the Sagemcom f@st 2804 automatically. But if this does not happen, then go to “Local Area Connections” or “Configure adapter settings” on Windows 10.

Once in “Network Connections”, select our adapter and call the context menu. In the context menu select properties.

Going into the properties of the adapter, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties. Put a tick " Use the following IP address" and enter the data manually.

IP address - 192.168.1.2

mask - 255.255.255.0

Gateway - 192.168.1.1

After this the fun begins. Press the button on the Sagemcom f@st 2804 Reset and keep for a long time. How long? How lucky? For some, 40 seconds was enough. In my case it was more than 2 minutes. I heard that some were clamped for half an hour. In order not to hold it ourselves, we tightened it with tape or an elastic band.

After that we go to the address 192.168.1.1. Gotta open up disaster recovery web interface Sagemcom f@st 2804.

The first time I held it for about 50 seconds, after which I tried to log in, but I still didn’t receive the emergency interface. Therefore, in order not to try different time periods, I simply held down Reset and refreshed the page in the browser every 10 seconds until the disaster recovery interface appeared.

Select the file, in the window that opens we find the file with the firmware, select it and press the button Open. After this you need to press the button Upgrade Software and wait until the router flashes and reboots on its own.

After rebooting the Sagemcom f@st 2804 you will not have to enter all the data again. All data remains the same, down to the login and password.

The second way to enter disaster recovery mode. Press the Reset button, then apply power. According to some service centers, this speeds up the transition to recovery mode.

Please note that during the firmware installation it may “kick out” from the web muzzle or nothing will happen. This doesn't mean nothing is happening. Do not try to unplug or take any other action. Wait for the full download of Sagemcom f@st 2804.

If you find an error, please select a piece of text and press Ctrl+Enter.
