As one of the largest modern manufacturers of winter tires, Nokian maintains leadership in the industry primarily due to its constant desire to be at the forefront of progress. On the eve of the First World War, when the company's management was just beginning to think about mastering the production of tires, technology had to be adopted abroad, in particular in the USA.

This process turned out to be quite lengthy. The entire 20s were spent preparing calculations and purchasing test molds.
