At the top of the range is the modernized 3.5-liter 2GR-FKS six with the D-4S fuel injection system. This engine produces 305 hp. and 362 Nm of thrust (previously it was 272 hp and 336 Nm), while consumption has decreased to 9.0 liters per hundred versus 9.8 previously, and it also works in tandem with 8 automatic transmissions.

There is also a hybrid modification THS II, which included the above-mentioned 2.5-liter engine with 178 hp, a 120-horsepower (202 Nm) electric motor, a nickel-metal hydride battery with a capacity of 1.6 kWh (moved from the trunk under rear sofa) and a new generation electromechanical variator, which in Sport mode can simulate the operation of a six-speed automatic. The total output of this installation is 211 hp, while the previous generation hybrid had 203 hp.

Overall length of Toyota Camry 2018-2019 is 4,859 mm (+ 9), the wheelbase has increased to 2,824 (+ 49), the width has increased to 1,839 (+ 19), and the height has decreased to 1,440 (- 30). The trunk volume of the sedan is 428 liters (- 8 l). Greetings to all car enthusiasts! My short review concerns the brand new Camry XV70, which I bought at the end of April. Back in early February, I was the first person in all of Bashkiria to make an advance payment, but received the car about two months later. I didn’t immediately like that the car was provided with additional equipment, although my order was without it. And the price was immediately raised by 150 thousand rubles! After haggling, the price was reduced to 100 thousand rubles. If I had known in advance that such nonsense would happen, I would not have resorted to the services of this salon, it feels like I’m buying some Creta for which there is a queue, and here is a business sedan for 1.8 million. An unpleasant experience. But due to the end of my vacation, I did not refuse the purchase. But apparently in vain.

Of course, the car looks beautiful, you can’t say anything. Its undoubted advantages also include comfortable seats, a fairly comfortable steering wheel, and what I especially liked was the soft suspension - it absorbs almost all the potholes and rides like a ship. But that seems to be where the positives end.

Xenon headlights - the high beams are still okay, but the low beams are no good at all. There is some problem with the left headlight, which shines somewhere into the ground. The halogen headlights on my previous Corolla car cannot be compared to these, they were much better.

The gearbox works like a robot on Vesta, all twitchy. At a speed of 50-60 km/h you begin to press the trigger, but nothing happens for 2-3 seconds, and then suddenly the speed instantly increases to 5-6 thousand and the car suddenly breaks down. And don’t tell me that I need to adapt to it, etc. - this is not Vesta, where for that kind of money it’s normal, this is a car for almost 2 million, I don’t have to think about how to press the pedal so that the automatic machine understands me.

Yes, the suspension is comfortable but the rear should be a little stiffer. On our washboard-like roads at a speed of 120-140 km/h, the rear of the car only had time to sway up and down, although there were 5 passengers with luggage in the cabin.

As for sound insulation, it is also mediocre, especially when driving on old asphalt. There is a feeling that you even hear the noise of the bearings, and not just the rubber. Because of the high tunnel, sitting in the back seat is completely uncomfortable for three people.

And most importantly: the most expensive Camry is on display at the car dealership for a test drive. There is a 3.5 liter engine and a new 8-speed gearbox, which is a pleasant pleasure to drive - I tested it myself.

But when you buy a mid-spec Camry, comfort disappears somewhere. I have a 2.5 liter engine and an old 6-speed automatic. It turns out heaven and earth. So if you are planning to buy, then take either the top-end 3.5 liter or first drive the 2.5 in the configuration you need. Otherwise you will be disappointed.
