What are statistics codes

Statistical codes are assigned by the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). They contain information about the main characteristics of each business entity, including each organization or individual entrepreneur. This information is presented in encrypted form.

It is impossible to do without statistics codes. They must be indicated in accounting, tax and statistical reporting, which is regularly rented out by all companies and entrepreneurs. Plus, these codes have to be communicated to bankers in order for them to open a current account.

Types of statistics codes and their application

1. OKPO (all-Russian classifier of enterprises and organizations). This is the main code of economic entities in Russia. For legal entities it is eight digits, for individual entrepreneurs it is ten digits. OKPO is used for data exchange between departments and for statistical analysis.

2. OKTMO (all-Russian classifier of municipal territories). Rosstat reads this code from the reports submitted by the organization or entrepreneur. Next, it recognizes the municipality to which the company or individual entrepreneur belongs. There are OKTMOs consisting of 8 digits. The first two indicate the region. Numbers three to five are municipal districts, urban districts or intracity territories of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sevastopol. Numbers six to eight - urban settlement, intra-city areas, rural settlement or inter-settlement areas.

Please note: in web services, current OKTMO codes are installed automatically, without user intervention. When filling out a report, the accountant only has to select the name of his municipality.

3. OKOPF (all-Russian classifier of organizational and legal forms) consists of five numbers. The first indicates a section. For example, commercial corporate organizations are combined in section 1, citizens (individuals) - in section 5, etc. The second and third digits indicate the type, and the fourth and fifth digits indicate the type of legal form. OKOPF are not unique. There is a single code for all LLCs - 12300, a single code for all individual entrepreneurs - 50102, etc. They are used in information resources that contain data about business entities.

4. OKOGU (all-Russian classifier of public authorities and management) is used for the convenience of statistical observation. The code consists of seven characters, the first of which indicates the group. There are five groups in total. The first, second, third and fifth are intended for authorities or management: state, regional, municipal and interstate. The fourth group unites organizations for which federal statistical observation is carried out. Thus, for all companies that are not related to government structures, OKOGU begins with the number “4”. These codes are not unique; different legal entities and entrepreneurs can receive the same OKOGU.

5. OKOFS (all-Russian classifier of forms of ownership) is used for statistical analysis and generation of various information resources. This code is two digit. The first sign shows the group number: “1” - Russian property, “2” - foreign, “3” - joint Russian and foreign, “4” - mixed Russian with a state share, etc. The second character indicates the serial number within the group. For example, OKOFS “16” is assigned to those who have private Russian property.

6. OKVED (all-Russian classifier of types of economic activities) shows the types of activities that a company or individual entrepreneur is engaged in or intends to engage in. An organization or entrepreneur may have several OKVED codes. The first time they are assigned during registration, and then, if necessary, when changing business directions. Currently, OKVED2 is used (OK 029-2014 (NACE Rev. 2), approved by order of Rosstandart. This code is indicated in many types of reporting, including tax. In particular, the field for OKVED is in the form for calculating insurance premiums and in the declaration according to VAT.

Obtaining codes online for LLCs and individual entrepreneurs

The first time a newly registered company or individual entrepreneur receives a document with codes (except OKVED) free of charge from Rosstat. Several years ago it was a certificate sealed by the specified department. Now both the naming and design of the document have changed.

REFERENCE. A modern document from statistics is called a notice. There is no stamp on it. Nevertheless, it is valid and can be presented to the bank, as well as to any other authority.
