The most powerful gaming laptop in the world. The most powerful laptops in the world

The expected new architecture of familiar Intel processors, the release of the Windows 10 operating system, hybrid wars between ultrabooks and tablets, as well as the choice of resolutions in the range from Full HD to Ultra HD for different display diagonals - all this became the basis for the variety of laptop models in 2015.

The best laptops of 2015. Results of the year according to ZOOM

There is no doubt that the economic situation emerging in 2015 did not have the best impact on the Russian laptop market. This is especially true for new models, which for obvious reasons could not maintain at least a comfortable price due to pre-crisis reserves.

How could new products attract buyers in 2015, if the difference in cost between two generations of laptops in one store became critical? As before, in 2015 the trend towards maximum energy saving of the system continued - thanks to which modern models demonstrate good time autonomous work.

In addition, in the new laptops of 2015 you can notice, albeit not fast enough, but still an improvement in the average quality of display matrices.

Finally, laptops introduced and hit the market in 2015 continued to lose in size - especially in case thickness and weight. At the same time, they mastered more and more new forms of transformation. The latter, without a doubt, was a consequence of the influence of the tablet niche on the market and was carried out with the support of the new operating system – Windows 10.

Logically summing up everything said above, we decided to tell you about the best laptops of this year, breaking them down into the following categories: best ultrabook, best gaming laptop, laptop with the best design, ergonomics or style, and best budget laptop.

Best gaming laptop of 2015

Not long ago, we published an article about the best gaming laptops available on the market. In that article, the MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI laptop deserved especially kind words - an extremely powerful solution with a large 18-inch display, a quad-core Intel Core i7 5950HQ processor and two flagship NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M cards running in SLI mode. Studying this masterpiece of engineering, our experts were sure that this particular laptop would receive the title of “Best Gaming” at the end of the year.

But everything turned out differently - although exactly in the tradition of the phrase “the king is dead, long live the king”: the best gaming laptop of 2015 was the “successor” of the contender - the MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI.

The MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI has few differences from its predecessor, but they are all quite fundamental from the point of view of the main idea of the class - maximum gaming performance.

MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI

Firstly, the MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI is equipped with quad-core Intel Core i7 processors of the sixth generation architecture (Core i7-6820HK and Core i7-6920HQ). It is important to note that the third level cache of these processors is 8 megabytes (not 6).

Secondly, in accordance with the requirements of the new processor architecture, the laptop is equipped with DDR4 memory with a clock frequency of 2133 megahertz. Its volume can reach 64 gigabytes.

Thirdly, the MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI is equipped with a built-in BD writer.

Finally, fourthly, the laptop now has a USB-C standard port and the Bluetooth module has moved from optional to standard equipment.

In general, compared to its predecessor, the MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI took several absolutely logical steps forward, dictated by the progress of technology. That is, it has become better and more powerful. Although, of course, more expensive.

The best ultrabooks of 2015

As last year, the phrase “best ultrabook” in 2015 turned out to be not synonymous with Apple’s line of Macbook laptops. Although both waves of laptops with an apple on the top cover looked good this time, two models were more than worthy competition for them - the Dell XPS 13 with a frameless display design and the Asus Zenbook UX305fa with Intel Core M series processors and silent passive cooling.

The Dell XPS 13 and the Asus Zenbook UX305fa, by the way, have quite a lot in common. Both laptops are equipped with 13.3-inch diagonal IPS displays with a resolution of 3200 by 1800 pixels (there are versions with more gentle Full HD), have thin and stylish metal cases, and demonstrate a good level of autonomy due to the proper use of battery energy. Both ultrabooks have a comfortable chiclet-type keyboard and a solid-sized touchpad with a good level of sensitivity and accuracy. A solid-state SSD array is installed as a device for long-term data storage.

Dell XPS 13

Naturally, the differences between the contenders for the title best ultrabook enough too. The most obvious is in the installed processors. In the Dell XPS 13 we see ultra-mobile processors of the sixth generation architecture: Intel Core i3-6100U, Core i5-6200U and Core i7-6500U. The Asus Zenbook UX305fa is equipped with fifth-generation Intel Core M architecture processors: 5Y10 with a frequency of 800 megahertz and 5Y71 with a frequency of 1200 megahertz. As already mentioned, Intel Core M processors are distinguished by a minimal thermal package and the ability to work “naked” - that is, without active airflow. Of course, the price for this is slower performance.

The Dell XPS 13 also differs significantly from the Asus Zenbook UX305fa in that it allows you to “play” quite a lot with the desired configuration. In addition to choosing within the line of Core i3-i5-7 processors, the user has the right to decide on the volume random access memory within 4-16 gigabytes and the size of a solid-state array - from 128 to 512 gigabytes. Finally, Dell XPS 13 displays come with a touch input option: Full HD without it, and 3200x1800 with it.

Asus Zenbook UX305fa

Despite the fact that the Asus Zenbook UX305fa offers more modest performance, its communication functions are richer. There are three USB port 3.0 (Dell XPS 13 has only 2), standard Micro-HDMI and a combined audio jack. On the Dell XPS 13, output to an external display is carried out via Mini DisplayPort 1.2 and proprietary adapters, and the audio jack only works as an output.

Best Designed Laptops

Design is that secret option that sometimes helps a different laptop model take a leading position in the saturated laptop market. In addition, design is also a reflection of fashion and technological trends that directly make laptops better, more convenient, and more in tune with the real needs of today.

The clash between the utilitarian and aesthetic components of design does not give us the right to choose the best on any one model. Therefore, there were two contenders in this group of laptops.

The first of them is the recently announced and almost immediately launched Microsoft Surface Book transformer. In addition to the interesting marketing fact that this is the first laptop under the Microsoft brand, the iconic feature of the model, of course, was the flexible mechanism for connecting the keyboard and screen. A somewhat dubious detail from a practical point of view (the mechanism has a limited opening angle and allows dust to pass through when closed) made the image of the Microsoft Surface Book extremely recognizable and fits perfectly into the overall style of this high-tech wonder.

Microsoft Surface Book

The latest technology for the Microsoft Surface Book concept is not just an empty phrase. The laptop competently combines a thin-profile body and low weight with high performance. The latest Microsoft Surface Book owes its ultra-mobile processors to the sixth generation Intel Core i3-i5-i7 architecture and the NVIDIA GeForce 940M discrete graphics card. It is the NVIDIA video accelerator that allows resource-intensive graphics applications to feel free on a 13-inch laptop screen with a resolution of 3000 by 2000 pixels.

Of course, the screen of the Microsoft Surface Book is touch-sensitive - at the press of a button (can be virtual), the laptop is divided into a “tablet” part and a keyboard, which is also a docking station with a wide variety of communication ports. Optimized for touch control operating system Windows 10 and the stylus included with the Microsoft Surface Book turn the “tablet” component into a completely professional tool. However, the ergonomic island-type keyboard with a large touchpad makes the Microsoft Surface Book a serious competitor to classic ultrabooks.

The second contender for the title of laptop with the best design is the Acer Aspire R13 (aka Acer Aspire R7-371T), a convertible with an all-in-one chassis design. The model was introduced at the end of 2014, but reached many markets only in 2015.

Interest in the Acer Aspire R13 is explained by several factors. Firstly, the laptop has very good technical characteristics and good functionality. Here you can find a fairly powerful Intel Core i7-5500U processor, a capacious solid-state SSD array of 256 gigabytes and high-quality touchscreen on a 13.3-inch diagonal IPS matrix with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels.

Acer Aspire R13

Secondly, the original transformation mechanism, coupled with a premium appearance (a combination of metal and impact-resistant Gorilla Glass 3), gives the Acer Aspire R13 design sophistication and convenience.

Finally, the third thing that pleases us about the Acer Aspire R13 is the price. Of course, it cannot be called low. However, combined with the power, functionality and appearance of the laptop, it once again confirms Acer's reputation as a manufacturer of laptops with an optimal ratio of cost and quality.

Best budget laptop

Throughout 2015, economic realities with surprising consistency adjusted the concept of “ budget laptop"in a direction that is unpleasant for buyers. As a result, in December we are talking about the “budget” niche, meaning laptops manufactured in 2015, whose cost is at least somewhat lower than 30,000 rubles.

There are several good models at this level. In particular, HP 350 G2 (K9H73EA), Lenovo G50-80, Acer ASPIRE E5-573G-33H7 and Dell Inspirion 15 5558. It is the latter that our experts rate slightly higher than others and consider it the best.

The Dell Inspirion 15 5558 is quite nice appearance And good quality assemblies. Despite the fact that the dimensions of the laptop are determined by the screen diagonal of 15.6 inches, the device looks and feels quite compact. The thickness of its body is 23.7 millimeters and its weight is 2.3 kilograms.

Dell Inspiration 15 5558

The Dell Inspirion 15 5558 case has all the necessary interfaces: USB, HDMI, RJ-45, hybrid audio jack. The number of USB ports is three – two versions 2.0 and one – 3.0. The laptop has Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac modules, a universal SD card slot and a built-in drive for reading and writing optical discs.

The basis of the Dell Inspirion 15 5558 system is the ultramobile Intel Core i3 4005U processor of the fourth (the year before) generation architecture. This is not to say that this is a very powerful solution. But its capabilities are sufficient for general tasks, especially since the laptop is paired with an NVIDIA GeForce 920M discrete accelerator.

In general, of course, a price of 30 thousand rubles for a laptop of the Dell Inspirion 15 5558 level seems strange. But these are the current market realities regarding laptops of this year. If you are determined to buy budget model for more modest money, we advise you to look for it among the unsold remnants of past generations of laptops.

I will continue the tradition and this time I will write about the best, in my opinion, laptops to buy in 2015. Considering that all the best laptops have exceeded the price acceptable for many ordinary citizens, I plan to build my rating of laptops as follows: first - the really best (in my opinion) for various applications: everyday use, gaming, mobile workstations, without regard to price . Then I will write about those that will be optimal for a specific budget: up to 15 thousand rubles, 15-25 and 25-35 thousand rubles (well, if you have more, you can choose from the first part of the rating or simply by characteristics and reviews, you already have from which to choose). Update:

Since it's only the beginning of the year and, moreover, this year I expect the release of Windows 10 and Intel Skylake processors, which in total could lead to very interesting devices, the list will be updated later, so if you don't need a laptop right now and don't in the next 6-10 months, be prepared for the fact that the TOP laptops will change by then.

You know, if in this section you write about the really best gaming laptops, such as:

  • MSI GT80 Titan SLI and MSI GS70 2QE Stealth Pro
  • New Razer Blade
  • Gigabyte P37X (not on sale yet, but I think soon)
  • Dell Alienware 18

When you look at their price (150-300 thousand rubles, on average), discomfort and doubts arise about the meaningfulness of such recommendations. It's like recommending a Mac Pro as a good home PC. So I’ll definitely write about more realistic gaming laptops to buy when we move on to budgets.

Well, for now you can admire it. So, the best gaming laptop MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI - quad-core Core i7 4980HQ, two GeForce GTX 980M video cards in SLI, 18-plus inches Full HD (higher expansion for games is currently more of a minus than a plus), excellent Dynaudio audio with built-in subwoofer, an excellent keyboard for gaming, a thoughtful upgrade of the laptop by the user and 121 FPS in Far Cry 4 on ultra. You can find the price yourself.

MacBook Pro 15 with Retina display is the best laptop for work (serious work)

By a laptop for work, I mean a mobile workstation on which you can easily and happily edit video, use CAD programs, do illustration and retouching, and, in fact, anything else. If you consider using Word, Excel and a browser as work, any laptop will do, and the best ones will be those listed in the first point of this rating.

And at this point, I think it’s right to place the MacBook Pro 15 with a Retina screen, even if it has not yet received 5th generation processors and a new touchpad (unlike the 13-inch model of early 2015), but is still not inferior to anyone in total characteristics: performance, screen, reliability, weight and battery life.

In addition, regarding the price, I can draw your attention to the fact that these laptops can still be found at retailers at a price 30% lower than at the official Apple Store (old supplies, apparently) and this price is lower than many of today’s Windows analogues (or approximately equal to them).

Transformable laptops

Now about laptops that can be tablets and tablets that can be used as a laptop. Here I would single out Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and Microsoft Surface 3 Pro (which should be updated to version 4 in 2015) as the best representatives of the category.

The second is not a laptop, but is equipped with a stylus and can be used in its role after purchasing a branded keyboard. Both have gorgeous screens, decent performance in Windows 8.1, benchmark results and good feedback. For me personally (and this entire review is very subjective), the value of such devices, as well as their reliability and comfort in use, is a little questionable, but many people use it and are satisfied.

Laptops based on budget

It's time to move on to ordinary human laptops in 2015, which are bought by most of us who are not ready to give up the cost of a car for a device that becomes obsolete many times faster than a car. Let's begin.

Note: I analyze current prices using Yandex Market and focus on the minimum prices in all-Russian retail chains.

Laptop for 15,000 rubles

There's not much you can buy for that price. It will be either a netbook with an 11-inch screen or a 15-inch simple laptop for study and office work.

Laptops up to 25 thousand

One of best devices in this category today, in my opinion, is ASUS X200LA with Core i3 Haswell, 4 GB of memory and weighing 1.36 kg. Unfortunately, the 11.6-inch screen may not be suitable for many.

If you need a larger screen, you can take the DELL Inspiron 3542 with a 15.6-inch screen, in a configuration with a Pentium Dual-Core 3558U chip and with Linux, it will just fit, and the laptop is very good.

25000-35000 rubles

I'll start, perhaps, from the bottom line and Acer ASPIRE V3-331-P9J6 - a new inexpensive model from Acer with Intel Broadwell, good battery life and weighing one and a half kilograms. There are no reviews on it yet, but I assume that it will be a very good budget laptop.

The next laptop from Dell was already mentioned in the previous paragraph, but this time we are talking about the Inspiron 3542 with an Intel Core i5 4210U, Windows 8.1 and, finally, discrete graphics NVidia GeForce 820M, that is, this laptop is already suitable for games (about 29 thousand rubles).

Well, at the top end of the range, I will again recommend the same Dell Inspiron 3542, but with a Core i7 4510U, GeForce 840M 2 GB and 8 GB of RAM - this is already very worthy and is suitable for both games and quite serious work.

Additionally

In the end, I want to talk about the advisability of upgrading the laptop at the beginning of 2015 and about the new MacBook, as promised above.

First of all, it seems to me that if there is no urgent need for a new laptop, then right now it makes sense to wait for the release of devices with Skylake (which, presumably, will be shipped somewhere in the second half of the year) and Windows 10 (not everything is clear here, there is rumors that they will launch by September or later in the fall).

Why? Firstly, Skylake is likely to bring increased autonomy, performance and reduce the size of devices. Secondly, when it comes to laptops, it is better for the average user to purchase them with the operating system that he will use in the future. Despite the fact that upgrading from Windows 8 and 7 to 10 will be free, it is better to have Windows 10 immediately configured for your hardware, including in a recovery image. And I think this version of the system will be relevant for a long time (comparable to Windows 7).

Well, a little about the new MacBook 2105 on Core M, with a 12-inch Retina display and without fans in the cooling system. Is it worth buying such a device?

If you buy all the new Apple products without me, then I have nothing to advise. But if you are thinking about the advisability of such a purchase, then, you know, I myself have doubts. So a few thoughts as a list:

  • The absence of a fan and air ducts is great, I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, dust is the main enemy of laptops, in my opinion (however, my ARM Chromebook doesn’t have a fan or slots either)
  • Weight and dimensions are excellent, just what you need.
  • Autonomy is promised to be good, but, of course, the MacBook Air is better here.
  • Screen. Retina. I don’t know whether most users need it on such diagonals and whether the additional load and power consumption are justified due to the higher resolution, and therefore I won’t evaluate it.
  • Performance - this is where doubts begin. On the one hand, if you look at the tests of the Yoga 3 Pro with similar specifications and a Core M processor, then the new MacBook (for which there are no tests yet) should have enough performance for many tasks. On the other hand, in image and video processing and other resource-intensive work scenarios, the operating speed is almost two times lower than that of the Air with 4 GB of memory. And given the fact that these operations will often be performed in Turbo Boost, problems may arise with battery life.
  • The price is the same as the Air with 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM (which is the basic configuration of the New MacBook).

In general, a new MacBook might be suitable for my work, but I seriously doubt that I can comfortably test programs in a virtual machine on it or edit my simple YouTube videos. While on Air you can do it quite well.

A very interesting device, I would like to try it. But I myself am actually waiting for the smartphone to be the only computer for all tasks, connecting, if necessary, to any peripherals, screens, etc. Somehow the guys from Ubuntu limited themselves to demonstrations in this regard.

With this article, our website continues a whole series of useful materials, the purpose of which is to make it easier to choose any product from the thousands of options offered on the market. Agree, choosing a specific model of a device always takes a lot of time, which can be spent usefully. In today's article we will talk about choosing gaming laptop .

Several things make a gaming laptop - a powerful processor, sufficient RAM, a modern discrete (separate) video card and, of course, a high price. You will have to pay for the opportunity to take all your favorite games with you on a hike, on transport or on vacation - do not expect to buy a gaming laptop for less than $800-$900. Top models can cost several times more. Their cost isn't always justified, but that's the nature of all the most powerful gaming PCs - both mobile and desktop. Also, don't expect a gaming laptop to be lightweight or comfortable. First of all, this is a gaming machine, and only then a portable PC. Gaming laptops require maintenance, often get very hot and weigh a lot (all this in comparison to non-gaming models).

In the next section, we'll talk about the main characteristics of gaming laptops, and then present to your attention ten best models, which can be found and purchased in our catalog.

Key Features You Should Pay Attention to

Screen size and resolution

Gaming laptops are usually quite large, but there are also models with rather small screens - for example, 13-inch. Naturally, the larger the screen, the better games look on it, but it is worth remembering that a large laptop will not be as convenient to carry around. Overall, choose your size wisely. If you don’t plan to often put your laptop in a carrying bag, then you can buy a 17-inch model, and if you want it to always be with you, choose a smaller model.

Screen resolution is an interesting characteristic of a gaming laptop, as it should not be too high. The fact is that games are usually poorly optimized to work at resolutions above 1080p (1920x1080 pixels), and the components in laptops are noticeably weaker than their counterparts in desktop PCs. In general, the gold standard at the moment is 1080p, and there is no point in moving away from it.

CPU

No AMD chips - only Intel, only Core i7 and Core i5. You should not pay attention to the clock frequency - it is not very important (although it allows you to distinguish top-end processors from cheaper ones within the same line). What is important, rather, is the generation of the chip and its position in the line hierarchy. Processors in modern gaming laptops can be one of three generations - Haswell , Broadwell or Skylake. If you are interested in details, refer to Wikipedia using the links.

Random access memory (RAM), GB

The minimum amount of RAM required for modern games is 8 GB. More expensive models can be equipped with 16, 24 or even 32 GB. There is no particular sense in such volumes yet, but they definitely will not hurt and will allow us to make a “background for the future.” In addition, 32 or more gigabytes of RAM will allow you to organize a RAM disk in memory, launching games from which will be simply incredibly fast - but very, very few enthusiasts do this, especially on laptops.

Video card

As with the processor - no AMD video cards, only Nvidia. Unfortunately, AMD is losing outright in the mobile sector.

The minimum acceptable mobile video card at the moment is GeForce GTX 860M. It is enough to play all modern games, even if not at maximum graphics settings. More powerful options are the GTX 960M, GTX 965M, GTX970M and GTX980M. The last two will provide a comfortable game in the highest quality.

The most expensive, large and powerful gaming laptops are equipped with two video cards. Such machines can cope with even the most demanding games, but their cost reaches several thousand dollars, and the price/quality ratio falls into thin air.

Hard drive and/or SSD

Most often, expensive gaming models are equipped with a combination of hard and solid-state drives (HDD and SSD). The operating system is always located on the first one, and the games themselves are on the second one.

But many modern games receive a noticeable performance boost (that is, they not only load faster, but also work much better overall) when installed on an SSD. So it is the SSD capacity that is important - it is best if it is 256 or even 512 GB. HDD capacity is not that important - it is usually high enough to install a very large number of the most different games. Also, pay attention to the speed of the hard drive - it will be better if it is 7200 rpm rather than 5400 rpm.

Support modern technologies wireless communication

The most important thing here is support for the fastest version of the Wi-Fi protocol 802.11ac. In such a wireless network, data transfer rates can reach several gigabits per second (under ideal conditions). This is important when streaming games on a local network - for example, if you want to use a device like Steam Link to stream games to a TV or other laptop.

Required Interfaces

The most important thing here is the presence of several high-speed USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI output. The first ones are useful for connecting various peripheral devices, the second one is for possible connection of a laptop to an external monitor or TV.

Keyboard

A keyboard is a very important tool for any PC gamer. As you know, mechanical models are best suited for gaming, but they are very rare in laptops - only the largest and most expensive models are equipped with them. It is also worth paying attention to the presence of all standard keyboard buttons - it is best if the keyboard of your gaming laptop has at least 104 keys and a number field.

Don't pay attention to keyboards with multi-colored backlighting and other cosmetic options - most likely, they will only distract you from your games. However, you can often simply turn them off.

We took on a difficult task: the concepts of “gaming laptop” and “inexpensive” are practically incompatible. And yet, we have selected 5 models of the most powerful laptops costing up to $1000, on which you can run the latest games without any problems.

1. Acer Aspire (model V3-772G-7448)

This laptop has a lot to praise for: it has a Full HD 17.3-inch display with built-in LED backlighting, an i7 processor from Intel at 2.3 GHz with the ability to turbo-overclock to 3.3 GHz, and a GT 750M video card with built-in RAM 4 GB. And the Acer Aspire also has a lot of nice little things: an HD webcam for streaming on Twitch, 4 USB ports (two of them are USB 3.0) and the ability to eventually increase the existing 8 GB of RAM by filling all four RAM slots.

2. MSI GP70 LEOPARD-010 (model 9S7-175A12-010)

MSI is known to gamers as a manufacturer of mediocre gaming laptops, but this is definitely not the case with the MSI GP70. This laptop is an example of what an inexpensive laptop for gaming should be like today. All its characteristics meet the requirements of modern games: NVIDIA GT840M adapter with 2 GB of video memory, 8 GB of RAM and an i5 Core processor with a power of 3 GHz.

The MSI GP70 may not be the most beautiful laptop on the market, nor the lightest (it weighs about 5 kg), but it can cope not only with Diablo III or League of Legends, but also with such demanding games. modern games, like Dragon Age: Inquisition.

3. Asus Vivobook (model V551LB-DB71T)

You can buy a great laptop for gaming for less than $800. Of course, it won't have the most advanced design, and you'll have to come to terms with the lack of a few important features, such as the keyboard backlight, but overall this laptop gets the job done quite well. The Asus Vivobook is quite productive and uses, although not the newest, but well-proven NVIDIA G740 video card with 2 GB of memory.

Also, the advantages of the Asus Vivobook laptop include two super-fast USB 3.0 ports and a 15.6-inch HD touch display. And this powerful device weighs a little: only about 2.3 kg. So overall, this laptop is a worthwhile purchase for a gamer.

4. Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p (model 59369912)

If you think portability is very important for a gaming laptop, then you won't find anything better than the IdeaPad Y410p. This is an ultra-portable laptop model that weighs only 2.5 kg. Of course, you will have to forget about the wide screen: here the diagonal is only 14 inches. But the performance is all right: a 7th generation i7 processor with a frequency of 2.4 GHz, 8 GB of RAM and a GeForce GT 750M video card with 2 GB GDDR5 video memory.

As a nice bonus, this laptop has a sensitive touchpad that can replace a mouse, and the ability to install an additional fan for better cooling.

5. Lenovo Y50 (model 59425944)

If you want the best, but at the same time inexpensive gaming laptop, then it should be the Lenovo Y50, which in all respects surpasses competitors in its price niche. This laptop boasts a 15.6" HD screen, premium JBL speakers, the latest 2.4GHz i7 Intel Core, and a GeForce GTX 860M graphics card that delivers a 40% performance boost over previous series graphics cards, which is quite impressive. noticeably affects fps when running the most modern games.

The design of the laptop doesn't disappoint either: a stylish black case with red backlighting. And if you are a fan of streaming gameplay on Twitch, then especially for you, the Lenovo Y50 laptop has a built-in HD webcam (720p), which will allow your viewers to watch you in high definition.
