Rating of the most economical cars by fuel consumption. The most economical gasoline engine Rating of economical gasoline cars

Often modern technologies are not noticeable to the average person and gradually enter everyday life. It may seem strange, but people eat much better than 10 years ago, information will be received faster than 15 years ago, and highway is much safer than it was 25 years ago. Modern technologies make it possible to combine seemingly incompatible things - the speed and efficiency of a car in one bottle. Today we will talk about five such cars. Of course, there are a huge number of such machines, but this review includes the most prominent representatives.

1. BMW 335d Touring

The first worthy contender on the list is the BMW 335d Touring. Without undue modesty, we can say that this car is so good that it is fashionable to put it on a par with the Porsche 911. The car uses a six-cylinder diesel engine with 630 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds. At the same time, diesel consumes almost two and a half times less fuel than the average representative of this class in the market.

2. Ford Fiesta ST

This car is well known to all motorists. There really is a reason to love him. Surprisingly cheap and yet very productive. The car gets to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, which is a pretty good result, even if it’s far from the best. The machine also features very low operating costs.

3. Porsche Panamera Hybrid

We can safely say that this car Porsche's first true sedan. "First" in every way. It is worth remembering that the car is still a hybrid. At the same time, it demonstrates excellent results on the road. V6 is used as a power plant Gas engine, as well as an electric motor. They allow you to accelerate to 100 km/h in an impressive 5.3 seconds. When powered by batteries, the car can be considered one of the most economical in the world. And, damn it, she still looks very good!

4. VW Scirocco TSI

What do you need to know about this car? First of all, it uses one of the best 2-liter gasoline engines. If we compare the VW Scirocco TSI with other hatchbacks, it is incredibly practical and economical, primarily in the area of fuel consumption. At the same time, the car can accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, which is quite an impressive option for the profile of the car in question.

5. Mercedes-Benz SLC 250d

Finally, another interesting diesel representative. This car accelerates to 100 km/h in almost 6.4 seconds. The car has very low operating costs, starting on its own, and cannot boast of a liberal price. In addition to all this, the car also looks very good. It also has excellent sound insulation, and the engine itself is quite quiet.

Continuing the automotive theme without much difficulty and time.

Surprisingly, in the auto industry there are, the volume of which can be less than 1 liter of a Coca-Cola bottle. If you now think that such motors are rare in our time, you will be surprised, in fact, engines with small volumes are widely used today by many automobile companies manufacturers. With the constant tightening of environmental standards in the world, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, most automakers are forced, but at the same time, trying to maintain a certain level of adequate vehicle power. Thus, if someone tells you that reducing engine displacement necessarily leads to a loss of power, then they are mistaken. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the Top 10, which by modern standards have a rather small engine capacity, but they both prove and refute those unconfirmed rumors that the trend towards reducing cylinders in the engine is detrimental to the car.

Turbocharged three-cylinder engine Smart 0.9L

Presented by us here, which is currently available for purchase on the car market. The parameters of this machine are as follows: Length - 2.69 m, Width - 1.56 meters. Accordingly, it turns out that there is no need to install a large and powerful engine on such a mini-car. Under the hood of the microcar is a turbocharged gasoline engine with a volume of 0.9 liters and a power of 84 hp. (maximum torque 120 Nm). This is quite enough for the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds. It is clear to everyone that the Smart Fortwo will lose any race on the road, but its main advantage is fuel economy; in the combined cycle the car consumes only 4.9 liters per 100 km.

Ford 1.0L EcoBoost three-cylinder engine

Several years have passed since Ford introduced its first. Already today, in our time, this power unit can be seen on many cars of the American brand. The power of such a motor is 100 hp. (depending on the car model), the torque of its turbo engine is 170 Nm. Thanks to its small volume three-cylinder engine and the start-stop system, the car's engine consumes only 4.6 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle.

Mitsubishi 1.2L three-cylinder engine

This 1.2 liter engine produces 78 hp. is installed on a car, which allows it to consume about 5.2 liters per 100 km in mixed mode.

This fuel consumption can be compared with the fuel consumption of certain hybrid vehicles. The car's power is less than 100 hp, and the maximum torque is 100 Nm.

Fiat Chrysler 1.4L Turbo MultiAir four-cylinder engine

This four-cylinder 1.4-liter power unit is used in many Fiat models, including and. The turbo engine has a power of 135 hp. The dimensions of this engine allowed the company's engineers to install it in the compact Fiat 500 car. Also, thanks to its technical characteristics, this engine makes this small car quite high-performance. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is also quite adequate - 7.8 liters per 100 km.

General Motors 1.4L Turbo Ecotec four-cylinder engine

Company General Motors launched its new 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. For example, this motor is also installed on a new one. The power of this engine is 153 hp. The average fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer is 6.7 liters per 100 km, which, agree with us, makes such a car simply amazing.

General Motors 1.4L Ecotec four-cylinder engine without turbo

For those who don’t really like turbocharged engines, GM has created a similar four-cylinder engine, but without a turbine, the volume of which is correspondingly equal to 1.4 liters and the power is 98 hp. For example, this power unit is installed on a car with an engine power of 98 hp. (128 Nm).

Volkswagen 1.4L turbo four-cylinder engine

Late last year, Volkswagen unveiled its 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. The motor code is EA211. This engine was specially created for the car model. Its power is 150 hp and maximum torque is 240 Nm. In mixed mode, a car with such power unit consumes only 6 liters per 100 kilometers.

Honda 1.5L four-cylinder turbo engine

Finally, Honda presented its turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, which will be installed on the new one in the future. There are many chances that this power unit will become the most popular of all the engines presented on the world market. The turbocharged engine of a Honda car has a power of 174 hp, its maximum torque is 220 Nm. In the combined cycle with a CVT, the fuel consumption of the engine is 6.7 liters per 100 km. WITH manual transmission gears, this fuel consumption will be significantly lower.

Toyota 1.5L four-cylinder engine

This 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, unlike the engine in a Honda car, is not equipped with a turbine. The power of this engine is 106 hp and the maximum torque is only 139 Nm. But this is quite sufficient and sufficient, since this power unit is mainly installed on a car. Fuel consumption is 7.1 liters per 100 km.

By the way, the engines of Honda and Toyota cars are very similar to each other in their design. The only significant difference between the cars is the presence of a turbocharger in the Honda engine. When comparing the power of two Japanese engines, one can notice and note the benefit of the turbine, which gives a Honda car a significant advantage.

Today, economical cars are in trend for many reasons, but the main selection criterion is the fairly high prices for fuel, which they consume several times less. This is why car manufacturers are trying so hard to surprise drivers with economical models. famous brands. Of course, the characteristics of the car depend on the class and type of engine, but in each category you can find the best option.

The main types of engines are gasoline and diesel. diesel fuel It is considered more economical because it has a low combustion rate, but its cost is often higher. Also, the price of cars with diesel engines is significantly higher than with gasoline engines, and maintenance, oils and components cost about 30% more.

Suzuki Alto is not only an economical car in terms of fuel consumption, consuming 1 liter per 25 km, but also a relatively inexpensive model. Of course, you shouldn’t count on any special functionality, but it is the only variant with a 1.0 liter three-cylinder engine.

Smart Fortwo is undoubtedly the most unique car in the ranking due to its unique appearance and the most compact dimensions, because it can deftly maneuver in dense traffic and also park perpendicular to the sidewalk. Despite the fact that it is inferior to the leader of the Toyota IQ rating in terms of cost, it can travel more than 500 km on a full tank of fuel, which is an average of approximately 4.4 liters per 100 km.

5. Daihatsu Cuore 1.0

This one is reliable japanese car practically unknown in our region due to a shortage of components, but its characteristics are not inferior to well-known offers on the car market. These days it is the main selection criterion for a potential buyer. Nobody wants to spend 1.2 million. rubles or more when buying a car, and ultimately get a not very big advantage in fuel economy compared to cheaper cars. Buying economical car, the buyer wants to get significant savings on gasoline or diesel fuel, which over time will at least partially recoup the overpayment for an economical car.

We have compiled for you a rating consisting of 10 cars that are the most economical and at their cost make sense to buy, since by overpaying for the economy of the car over time, it is possible to recoup the money invested due to less spending at the gas station.

Despite the fact that in last years mainly the emergence of new modern technologies which are used in engines internal combustion, which made it possible to significantly reduce average fuel consumption, there is not even one car in our selection with a conventional gasoline or diesel engine. All cars presented in the rating.

The reason is that technology does not yet allow modern traditional engines to compete in fuel consumption with vehicles running on hybrid power units.

Please note that our selection includes full-size cars. We deliberately do not include small cars with low fuel consumption in the rating, since such cars are small in capacity (usually two-door) and low-power, which are not in great demand throughout the world and are not very relevant in our country.

The cars presented in the TOP 10 are quite powerful, but nevertheless are economical in fuel consumption.

1) 2013 Lexus CT200h - 1.32-1.7 million rubles

Our list starts with the luxurious Lexus CT200h. This car is one of the few hybrid cars sold in Russia (there are many more cars with hybrid engines in the USA and Europe), prices for which start from 1,318,000 rubles. This small car in combined mode (simultaneous operation of a conventional engine and an electric one) consumes only 5.6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

Such low fuel consumption is made possible thanks to the use of Toyota Hybrid Synergy technologies, which are used on many hybrid and all-electric Japanese cars.

The hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric powertrain. Total power is 134 hp. Weight - 1445-1485 kg. (The total curb weight of the vehicle is 1790 kg.)

The Lexus CT200h five-door hatchback is considered sportier and more enjoyable to drive than the Toyota Prius on which it is based.

2) 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid (Mondeo) - $27,995 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.30-1.65 million. rubles including customs duties and delivery from the USA.

Ford is spending a lot of effort on developing hybrid technology. Fusion model, which is better known in Russia as Ford Mondeo despite the fact that it is not officially represented in the Russian Federation, it occupies second place in our rating. Despite its low cost in the States, it is not possible to buy this car for little money in Russia. In order to purchase this car, you need to go to America to buy it or order a car through companies specializing in the resale of cars from the USA.

But the price of the car will increase due to customs duties and delivery to Russia. So the customs duty will be approximately 469 thousand. rubles

Despite the high price tag, the car and the difficulty of purchasing it in the Russian Federation, this car was included in our rating because of its efficiency. Fuel consumption in combined mode is only 5 liters per 100 km. The hybrid installation is a 2-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric 7.6 kW installation. Operation in combined mode produces 188 hp. power, thanks to the use of an electronic automatic continuously variable transmission ECVT.

Ford recognized the success of the project to equip the model with hybrid engines Ford Fusion Hybrid (Mondeo). Due to the success, the American company decided to use this hybrid system on Ford cars C-MAX.

3) 2013 Toyota Prius V - 1.25-1.59 million. rubles

Despite the fact that the Toyota Prius is a very popular hybrid car all over the world, in our country this car is not in very great demand due to its high cost compared to other countries. Not to mention the Prius V version. But we decided to include it in the rating, since without this car the selection of the most economical cars in the world would not be complete.

The direct competitor to the Prius is the Ford S-Max. The Prius 5 is larger than the regular Prius and is specifically designed to accommodate people and luggage (the trunk is a problem for all hybrid cars as it is the only comfortable spot for installation battery, powering the electric motor).

Fuel consumption in combined mode is 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers.

Using Toyota's signature Synergy Drive hybrid technology, the car produces 134 hp, which is low for a car of its size. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds.

4) 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid - $26,935 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.18-1.53 million. rubles including customs duties and delivery from the USA.

More affordable than the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid (Mondeo) is the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which unfortunately is also not officially presented in the Russian Federation. Currently, hybrid technology from Toyota in the form of the Toyota Camry Hybrid is available to all those who cannot stand the style and design of the Toyota Prius.

Fuel consumption when the 2.5 liter gasoline engine and electric motor work together is 5.7 l/100 km. In addition to its body shape and style, the Camry differs from the Prius in its good power (200 hp), thanks to which this full-size mid-size sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds, which is not bad for a hybrid four-door car.

5) 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid - $25,995 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.18-1.51 million. rubles including customs duties and delivery from the USA or Europe.

Ford C-Max is the ideal hybrid vehicle for those who like the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid USA (Mondeo) but need more space for passengers and luggage. This car, like most hybrid cars, is not officially sold in our country. So, fans of this brand will have to buy this car in the USA or in Europe, spending money on customs and delivery to Russia.

However, despite the difficulties of buying, the C-Max is cheaper than the hybrid Mondeo. Note that the C-Max and Ford Fusion share the same engine and transmission. These models also have the same fuel consumption, which is only 5L/100km, but the C-Max has larger body dimensions, which has an advantage over the Fusion Hybrid USA. Power 188 hp (when working together electric motor and petrol 2 liter).

When testing the hybrid C-Max, it is worth noting that it is much more pleasant to drive than the Prius V.

6) 2014 VW Jetta Hybrid - $25,790 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.15-1.49 million. rubles including customs duties and delivery from the USA.

With a petrol 4-cylinder 1.4 liter turbo engine and an electric motor, the Volkswagen is much more powerful than the Prius. The power of the hybrid Jetta is 170 hp. Latest models of this hybrid car equipped with automatic transmissions automatic DSG with double clutch.

With such power, the VW Jetta consumes only 5.23 liters per 100 kilometers, which is an excellent result considering the considerable power. The price at which it can be purchased in the North American continent is very attractive.

7) 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid - $25,150 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.14-1.47 million. rubles including customs duties and delivery to Russia.

Used hybrid vehicles are offered for sale in Russia Honda Civic VII 2009-2010 at a price of 450 thousand - 550 thousand. rubles (data from Auto.ru)

Unlike other hybrid cars presented in this rating of inexpensive and most economical cars, the Honda Civic is a hybrid that can only operate in a combined mode of operation of an electric motor and a gasoline engine. So, it won’t be possible to drive this car on electric power alone.

Despite this, the fuel consumption of the Honda Civic Hybrid is only 5.35 l/100 kilometers, which is not bad for a 1.5 liter engine paired with an electric power unit.

The only negative is that the power is not very high, amounting to only 93 hp. (for the Japanese market 91 hp). Given the low price and low fuel consumption, the premium for a hybrid car can be recouped in just a few years.

8)2013 Toyota Prius - $24,995 (US price)

In Russia the cost is 1.19-1.53 million. rubles The price of used cars is on average below 1 million. rub.

Toyota Prius, compared to approximately the same class of cars running on traditional engines, costs about the same, which is one of the most important factors in favor of buying this hybrid. Plus very low fuel consumption - 4.7 liters per 100 km. Although the regular Prius is smaller in size than the Prius V, it produces 134 hp. still not enough.

Just like the Prius 5, the standard Toyota Prius uses the same 1.8-liter gasoline engine, paired with an electric motor and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Despite the not very stylish design of the car and some shortcomings, the price and fuel consumption of the Toyota Prius are the main advantages for deciding whether to purchase a hybrid car.

Thanks to its efficiency and affordable price, the cost of purchasing a car will be partially paid off during operation, by saving money on gasoline.

9) 2014 Toyota Prius C - $19,875 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.09-1.30 million. rubles including delivery from the USA and customs duties.

The new Toyota Prius C model is a whopping nearly $5,000 cheaper than the regular Prius model. The size of the new Toyota Prius C model is exactly two times smaller than the regular Prius model. This model is Toyota's first hybrid vehicle in the US, priced under $20,000. Despite small size, it was not possible to reduce fuel consumption on this model.

The car consumes the same amount of fuel as a 2013 Toyota Prius (4.7 l/100 km). Also, you should not expect agility due to the weight of this car. The car is paired with an electric motor with a 1.5 liter low-power engine from Toyota Yaris (almost 100 hp).

But despite the boring technical indicators, the main thing in the car low price(in the United States), which is very attractive, which will naturally attract a large number of buyers.

10) 2013 Honda Insight Hybrid - $19,390 (US price)

Price in Russia: 1.00-1.25 million. rubles, taking into account delivery from the USA and customs duties to the Russian Federation.

This car completes our top ten most economical and inexpensive cars. It is the most affordable to purchase. Like all full-size cars in our rating, the 2013 Honda Insight is a hybrid. The hybrid installation consists of an electric power unit and a 1.3-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 98 hp.

Like the 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid, the Insight can't run on electric power alone, but it still gets good fuel economy at 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers. In terms of style, design and other parameters, the car is inferior to all the cars presented in the rating.

But it has no competitors in terms of price. Taking into account the specifics of our product, the low price allows you to quickly recoup the costs of purchasing this hybrid car, thanks to saving money at the gas station.

Ford has shown the most economical and environmentally friendly Focus hatchback with a gasoline engine - modification of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost ECOnetic. It's powered by the same three-cylinder 1.0 turbo engine as the regular 100PS liter Focus that went on sale last year, but thanks to ECOnetic technology it has 15% lower combined fuel consumption and 9% lower average emissions CO 2 into the atmosphere.

ECOnetic technologies are, first of all, an active shutter in the radiator grille, as well as an aerodynamically designed underbody, special tires with low rolling resistance and optimized gear ratios in the transmission. This Focus can achieve impressive efficiency thanks to the start-stop system, kinetic braking energy recovery and Ford EcoMode.

Ford calls Focus 1.0-liter EcoBoost ECOnetic the first family car in Europe from gasoline

Which engine is more economical: gasoline or diesel?

This contributes to the efficiency of a diesel engine compared to a gasoline engine. Diesel fuel engines have a high compression ratio and power ratio in relation to the amount of fuel burned.

Gasoline engines have a throttle valve. It is usually used to reduce air flow when the engine is under partial load. This design is not provided for in diesel engines, and therefore fuel losses are significantly less.

When comparing the efficiency of two engines, gasoline and diesel, it is also necessary to take into account the cost of fuel. Thus, diesel fuel has a lower cost than gasoline, and this is very beneficial when traveling long distances.

It follows that the fuel consumption of a car with a diesel engine is lower, the cost of fuel is lower, and refueling costs are lower than those of gasoline engines. At the same time, gasoline is slightly more expensive, and fuel consumption on a gasoline engine is much higher than on a diesel engine.

However, you should not choose a car based only on efficiency and fuel consumption indicators. It is also necessary to think about the fact that over time, with long-term operation, it may be necessary to repair the engine. And repairs of a diesel engine, spare parts and oils, as a rule, cost much more than for gasoline engines.

Separately, you should remember about possible problems starting a diesel engine in winter time, which is an essential criterion when choosing the type of engine in a car.

The most economical SUVs

Well, the first was, as last year, the Toyota Urban Cruiser with a consumption of 5 l/100 km.

The most economical crossover Peugeot 3008

Peugeot announced the start of sales in Russia new version crossover 3008. The French proudly emphasize that the new Peugeot 3008 e-HDi is the most economical crossover on the market in accordance with the passport data of the car, which consumes 4.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

This SUV has been sold in our state for quite a long time, but only two years later the most popular version of the car with a diesel engine was able to reach consumers. In Russia, the most economical crossover will be sold with a 112-horsepower 1.6-liter engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. All 3008 crossovers with diesel engines are equipped with a start/stop system and are no different in interior decoration from their gasoline counterparts.

Thanks to the 1.6-liter engine, the most economical crossover with an automatic transmission was valued by the French at 939 thousand rubles. The average Active package with climate control and a range of other useful options costs 974 thousand rubles, which is equivalent to the price of a 150-horsepower gasoline counterpart, but in the city the diesel version will be much more economical. For this amount, buyers will be offered basic equipment Active with everything you need, and most importantly - an automatic transmission. Two other modifications, Active, costing 974 thousand rubles, and the top-end Allure, priced at 1.104 million rubles, will also be available. This is the cost of the maximum configuration of the 150-horsepower petrol version with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Peugeot 3008 diesel crossover looks quite attractive compared to its potential competitors. It should be noted that not many single-wheel drive SUVs equipped with a heavy fuel engine are offered on the domestic market. For example, you can purchase a SsangYong model with a two-liter 149-horsepower engine and a manual transmission for 745 thousand rubles, and with an automatic option - for 866 thousand rubles. Diesel crossover Ford Kuga is estimated at a minimum of 1.012 million rubles, moreover, with manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Most other SUVs with a diesel power unit are offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, which as a result affects their final cost.
