The new crossover Hyundai Santa Fe is completely declassified. New Hyundai Santa Fe: when diesel is better than gasoline New hyundai santa fe

The 4th generation Hyundai Santa Fe crossover presents the latest 2018-2019 model year of the Korean company. The new generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe crossover enters the Korean home market on February 7, 2018, without waiting for the world premiere date in early March. We offer our readers a preview of the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe 2018-2019 - the first information, photos, price, equipment and specifications one of the most anticipated new products from Hyundai Motor Company this year. According to preliminary information, the price of the new Hyundai Santa Fe in Korea will be from 25,800 to 34,000 dollars. Interestingly, in the summer of 2018, a new generation of Hyundai Santa Fe will enter the Russian market.

The new Santa has not only radically changed in appearance compared to its predecessor, but also acquired a completely new interior in the style of models and with a mass of modern equipment, a huge set of electronic assistants and assistants, as well as an 8-speed automatic transmission gears from the updated crossover and an upgraded all-wheel drive transmission, named HTRAC. At the same time, the new 4th generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe crossover is based on the platform of the 3rd generation of the model and is equipped with engines familiar from its predecessor. In the Korean market, this is a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine and a pair of turbo diesels - a 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter.

The official photo and spy photos of the new Hyundai Santa Fe allow you to see the novelty from all sides and appreciate the scale of the changes that have endowed the new generation of Santa with a chic appearance. The front part of the body received a huge trapezium of a false radiator grille, a two-level head light, a powerful bumper and a hood with a charismatic relief.

On the side, the body of the new Korean crossover demonstratively exposes huge wheel arch cutouts, rear-view mirrors on powerful support legs, minivan fixed triangular glass on the front doors, a high window sill line of side glazing, a smooth and long roof line, athletic stampings and charismatic ribs that prescribe the sidewalls body, and in general a powerful torso, like an athlete.

The rear part of the body was awarded by designers with superbly stylish LED marker lights, a neat tailgate with several ledges and a powerful bumper body with additional sections of marker lighting and exhaust tips.

The salon of the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe meets the driver and passengers with a completely new architecture of the front panel and center console. The mass of horizontal lines with smooth level-to-level transitions give the front panel a stylish and airy look, while the panel looks powerful and expensive. The photo shows the interior of an expensive configuration of a novelty with a digital instrument panel, a compact and convenient multifunctional steering wheel, an advanced multimedia system with a separately installed color tablet screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with voice control developed by Hyundai and the Korean company Kakao, dual-zone climate control -control, leather-trimmed seats, front seats with electric drive, heating and ventilation.

The manufacturer promised a platform for wireless charging of smartphones, the possibility remote control car functions using a special application installed on a smartphone, as well as a host of electronic systems: Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attetion Warning and High Beam Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Advanced Driver Assistance System and even such original things as Safe Exit Assist (when people get out of the car, the system will give a signal if another car approaches from behind) and Safe Exit Assist (will remind the driver about the passengers he has forgotten in the rear seats).

Specifications Hyundai Santa Fe 4th generation 2018-2019.
The new generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe crossover is based on a modernized and improved platform of the 3rd generation of the model. However, the new Santa was the first of the Hyundai models to receive an advanced system all-wheel drive HTRAC with electronic control, previously available only to models of the Genesis brand, while the crossover retained the transverse engine layout and the ability to purchase a car with both front-wheel drive 2WD and all-wheel drive 4WD.

The new generation Hyundai Santa Fe enters the Korean market with the engines of its predecessor, but equipped with a new 8 automatic transmission.
The gasoline version of the Hyundai Santa Fe is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine - 2.0L Theta II Turbo (240 hp).
Diesel versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel 2.0 CRDI Diesel (186 hp) and a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine 2.2 CRDI Diesel (202 hp).

The new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 surprises with its design and attracts with options, the wrapper still turned out to be catchy, and what a soul this handsome man has. Will it let you down, for example, on slippery ground, if you call yourself an all-terrain vehicle? The strategy of the Hyundai-Kia concern in recent years is to make a bright and equipped car at a competitive price. Alas, not always pretty design and premium options are combined with a well-tuned chassis. About what impressions the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 leaves in general, read in our test drive.

Design wins over functionality

At first I liked the new design of the front end. A narrow strip on top - exclusively running lights. Even the matte silver molding across the car is not intimidating - the new 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is designed by a European design studio and it has an aesthetic.

Everyone can judge the design of the Hyundai Santa Fe for himself, but you can’t argue that it is catchy. The basis of the composition, of course, is optics. Alas, it doesn't work as well as it looks.

There was a problem with the lights. You expect that the turn signal will be in a block with LEDs and may even be running in the latest fashion, and it blinks sadly at the bottom of the bumper. Diode headlights upset even more - the dipped beam is frankly weak on all three cars that I drove. Electronics adequately controls the high beam and it is not bad at moderate speeds, but driving faster than 50 km / h with low beam is not comfortable. So, when planning a trip, try to make the road fall during the daytime.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 knows how to level the body and loves asphalt

It is better to choose roads for a trip with asphalt. The suspension is almost impenetrable in the pits, but on the waves the new Santa Fe 2018 dances and forces you to steer. There are no problems on even asphalt - the crossover rides like a real German battleship. Moreover, the cabin is absolutely silent up to 180 km / h, when a noticeable rumble from the rails appears.

If the trunk of your Santa Fe is loaded and the rear axle sags, then after 3 km, the system will automatically trim the position of the body.

From the outside, the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe looks brand new and technically heavily redesigned. To improve the behavior of the car, the rear shock absorbers are now installed vertically, but the main thing is that they have received the function of automatically maintaining ride height. The shock absorbers have a predetermined level, and if the car sank during loading, then on the go the body will return to its original position due to specially tuned bypass valves. No flimsy pneuma or electronics. It can take up to two kilometers to level the car, but the more bumps, the faster the Santa Fe will rise. A similar trick used to be used by Subaru.

Motors from the previous Santa Fe - gasoline or turbodiesel

The range of motors is well known. There are two of them: gasoline and turbodiesel. The 2.4-liter petrol received direct fuel injection and two drive belt instead of one. Due to this, power and torque increased, but a good appetite remained. With active driving, it consumes 15 liters of 92 per 100 km. Consumption is not proportional to the dynamics: in the foothills of Kyrgyzstan, it lags behind the diesel Santa.

If you want more dynamics in the character of your new Hyundai Santa Fe, choose a turbodiesel. Gasoline can only offer a quiet ride.

The more dynamic diesel Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 is also more economical - it fits into 8.5 liters, and if you take your time and drive along the highway, then 6.5 liters. It is also helped by a new 8-speed automatic with a higher degree of transformer blocking. The characteristic diesel rumble is heard only at the moment the engine is started. When the engine warms up, it is not audible at all. The maximum speed is over 200 km / h, but more importantly, at city speeds, the diesel Santa Fe picks up speed more readily than the gasoline one, and you are more confident in overtaking it. But you will have to pay extra for the dynamics when buying: a diesel engine fits into more expensive versions. Gasoline is available in medium and initial versions.

Salon to match the appearance - looks modern

The interior architecture is Korean: the panel has many floors and smooth lines. A seven-inch screen and brown leather add to the high cost, but they will not be in the initial configuration.

A notable step forward in interior trim. Only the basic version has fabric, all the rest are covered with leather. The eight-inch multimedia is fast and has good graphics. In the top, it is complemented by Krell acoustics. Previously, its place was occupied by Infinity (do not confuse with car brand, whose last letter is i). Now the Koreans have switched to the Krell brand, which, by the way, is used by the Acura brand. At the same time, for some reason, only the driver's power window has an automatic mode.

In the new generation, the Hyundai Santa Fe has grown the trunk. Its volume is from 328 to 2019 liters.

Surcharge for the third row of seats 50 thousand rubles.

The supply of space on the second row is sufficient. But on the third it will be comfortable only for children.

Hyundai Santa Fe feature - safety

But in what Santa Fe has surpassed all its direct and indirect competitors - this is the concern for the safety of children in the cabin. Adaptive cruise with tracking of road markings is no surprise now. Yes, electronics sometimes panics in regular situations, when planning to overtake you accelerate in your own lane and go into the oncoming one. But the electronics interfere only with a squeak and do not try to slow down. In the parking lot, Santa will warn you with a squeak if a passing car drives from the side. In case of danger, the system will not allow either the driver or passengers to open the doors. Well, if you happen to forget a pet or a child in the cabin, a motion sensor will work in a locked car, and Hyundai will notify others that perhaps someone needs help in his cabin.

Off-road only dacha

This level of off-road is the maximum to be expected from the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018. Yes, the drive is all-wheel drive, but it is plug-in, and the overhangs are large. Ground clearance 18.5 cm.

For serious off-road, the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 is not suitable - the overhangs are large, the bumpers hang low. Ground clearance only 18.5 cm. One can only hope for black lining at the bottom of the bumper, which in expensive versions is also complemented by silver inserts and all-wheel drive with the possibility of forced locking of the rear wheel drive clutch. There is an assistant descent, but it's more of a toy. Santa gets out of the diagonal posting, but with a noticeable effort, so it’s better to get to more serious adventures on foot. Moreover, the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 is equipped with completely road tires.

Partly on country off-road Hyundai Santa Fe helps matte plastic - a practical solution.

New Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 from 1,999,000 to 2,849,000 rubles

Price for basic version Santa Fe starts at 1,999,000. For the money you get all-wheel drive, Gas engine 2.4 with automatic and cruise control, but without a rearview camera, leather and color multimedia. For a leather interior, a 7-inch color screen and other options, you will have to pay 160 thousand rubles.

Despite the large size of the car, the designers were able to avoid an overweight silhouette.

A version with a diesel engine in a similar configuration will cost 170 thousand more, but it is more powerful, more economical and boasts a new 8-speed automatic.

The Premier package costs from 2,329 thousand and has heated rear seats, LED headlights, a partially digital instrument panel and 18-inch wheels. The top-end High-Tech variant is only available with a diesel, so it costs 2,699 thousand already. It includes an extended set of power driver's seat, a 10-speaker Krell audio system and other advanced options. For 80 thousand, you can order the Exclusive package for it: a glass roof and a projection on the windshield, as well as a third row of seats for 50,000 rubles. Or you can spend 2,849 thousand and get all the possible options right away in the Black & Brown package.

In rich trim levels, the devices will be half electronic. In simple configurations - ordinary arrows.

Also, for a surcharge, you can buy Smart Sense packages (90,000 rubles) with adaptive cruise and auto braking and a third row of seats (50,000 rubles).

The brightest element of the car from the stern is the rear lights.

In the Russian market, seven-seater diesel crossovers are offered only by Hyundai, Kia, Skoda. a little cheaper, but more modest in size and develops only 150 horses, against 200 for Korean brothers. Most likely, it is with the Sorento Prime that the new Santa Fe will have to compete. Larger

The spare is under the car.

However, the Hyundai Santa Fe can be considered a 7-seater rather conditionally - the third row is suitable only for children. Adults will sit with their heads bowed, as the roof presses on them, and there will be room for knees only if the second-row passengers move their row forward a little. Fortunately, the sled has a huge range. In the 5-seat version, Santa looks like the perfect traveler. The trunk is roomy, it does not sag under load, and in the event of a puncture, the spare wheel hangs under the floor and you do not have to unload luggage.

Formally, the world premiere of the new Santa will take place in early March at the Geneva Motor Show, but for Korean buyers, this crossover is available now: the company has revealed all the details about the car and is about to start sales. Popularity is guaranteed: in eight days, local dealers have already accepted 14,000 orders, although the car itself has not really been seen! What is so attractive about the fourth generation Santa Fe?

First of all, appearance: there was a complete change of image. The design with double-deck headlights, a wide grille and massive wheel arches does not resemble the design of its predecessor. The window sill line has become a little higher, the exterior mirrors are now installed on legs, and motionless “minivan” triangles have appeared in the corners of the windows of the front doors. Although the drag coefficient has not changed much: 0.337 instead of 0.34 for the car of the outgoing generation.

The wheelbase has been stretched from 2700 to 2765 mm, the overall length has about the same increase: 4770 versus 4700 mm. New crossover became 10 mm wider (1890 mm), and the height has not changed (1680 mm). The share of high-strength hot-forged steels in the body structure has increased by 2.5 times, and the torsional rigidity is now 15.4% higher. This promises not only elevated level passive safety but also noise and vibration reduction.

The range of engines for the Korean market has completely moved from the Santa of the previous generation. Local buyers are offered a petrol turbo four 2.0 T-GDi (235 hp) and diesel engines R2.0 (186 hp) and R2.2 (202 hp). However, the transmission of the crossover is new. Firstly, all versions are equipped with an eight-speed "automatic", which is already known from a related crossover. And secondly, a new HTRAC all-wheel drive system has appeared, which, however, has nothing to do with the transmission of the same name in Genesis sedans.

Crossover Hyundai Santa Fe, as before, has a permanent front-wheel drive, but the rear wheel coupling is now not electro-hydraulic, but completely electric. It should respond to slippage and connect the rear axle faster than the previous node. Another novelty is the electric power steering, located on the rack and pinion mechanism, like the Kia Sorento Prime in the GT Line version.

The interior of the new Santa Fe has been transformed in unison with the exterior: there are many horizontal lines and a free-standing “tablet” of the media system. The volume of the cabin has been increased. As before, you can order a third row of seats (such versions have not been delivered to Russia for a long time), and the mechanism for folding the second row seats has been improved, and now this is done in one motion. The trunk has also become more spacious: in the five-seat version, the volume has been increased from 585 to 625 liters, and in the seven-seat version, from 125 to 130 liters.

The crossover has instruments with a seven-inch display in the center, which displays the speedometer and trip computer data. The equipment includes voice control, created in collaboration with the Korean company Kakao, the Apple CarPlay function, a wireless charger for a mobile phone, a projector of instrument readings on Windshield, all-round cameras, Krell audio system, as well as the ability to remote control some vehicle functions from the app on your smartphone. For example, you can check the fuel level, unlock the doors, or start the engine.

The crossover will have automatic braking systems (including when driving in reverse) and lane keeping, automatic switching from high beam to low beam, and also the world's first system that will remind the driver when leaving the passenger compartment in the back seat.

Of course, with the change of generation Hyundai Santa Fe has risen in price. In Korea, the base price has risen from $24,700 to $25,800. And the richest version with a diesel engine will cost 34 thousand. Details about versions and prices for other markets should appear very soon. But in Russia new Santa Fe is expected in the summer.

UPDATED FEBRUARY 22: Information about the version for the US market has appeared. Almost the only significant difference from crossovers for Korea is the presence of a 2.4 GDI petrol aspirator with direct injection with a power of 185 hp in the range. And in the global range there will also be naturally aspirated engines 2.4 MPI and 3.5 MPI with distributed injection. Most likely it is them will put on cars for the Russian market.

Occasion: the first Russian test drive of the fourth generation Hyundai Santa Fe.

Scene: surroundings of Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan.

Impression. For us, the bold design of the Hyundai Santa Fe with multi-storey optics is new. In fact, this is the third model of the brand in a similar style after crossovers and Nexo unknown in Russia. The “face” will take some getting used to, but it doesn’t look scary in real life. On the contrary, there is some extraordinary attraction in it. In the end, for lovers of the traditional look, there is a related one. That traditionalist to the last millimeter. What is even strange: usually in a bunch of Hyundai-Kia, it is the latter that have a more daring design.

But it’s not the appearance itself that strains, but its consequences for practicality. In those accidents where only the bumper shell of a crossover of standard proportions will suffer, the Santa Fe has every chance to bang an expensive LED headlight. Orientally chaotic traffic on the roads of Kyrgyzstan (albeit not on own car) makes you remember this all the time.

The new two-liter turbo engine will not be delivered to us, as well as simple versions - with mechanical box gears and front wheel drive. Therefore, the starting point is a gasoline aspirated 2.4 with direct fuel injection with a capacity of 188 hp. Lucky he car is not to say that sluggish, but without a twinkle. More noisy than effective. In addition, a 6-speed automatic works with it, which sometimes allows itself to make rough shifts.

On a diesel car, the picture is an order of magnitude better. The type of an already running engine from the passenger compartment can only be determined by the markings of the tachometer: no trembling, perfect silence. And on the go, Santa Fe with a 2.2 CRDi engine of 200 “horses” is quieter than its gasoline counterpart! This affects the operation of the engine at lower speeds - both as a diesel engine in itself, and through the efforts of a new 8-speed automatic. The latter shifts gears perfectly: do not feel it! And even if there is no obvious pickup of traction, the Santa Fe, weighing over two tons, easily goes to forbidden speeds.

"Santa" perfectly obeys the steering wheel. Riding on serpentines is even a pleasure, which, to be honest, I did not expect from a rather big Korean crossover. Unless I would prefer a more modest size to 19-inch wheels: harsh! However, there are arguments in favor of bundling with them. The fact is that expensive versions have ContiSportContact 5 tires. And the “eighteenth” tires are simple Kumho, which are noisier and do not behave so confidently in corners.

And Hyundai Santa Fe allows you to feel like an operator of the autonomous car of the future. I am aware that the adaptive cruise control on the "Korean" is not the most advanced, and the set of active safety assistants is not the same as on the German giants. But everyone panics when the driver takes his hands off the wheel, but the Santa Fe doesn't! Therefore, the tandem of an active cruise with a lane keeping system in the presence of markings on the road completely allows you to forget a little about your duties as a helmsman. Of course, in sharp turns, the car’s capabilities are not enough, and Hyundai does not see road signs with a relief. But the "chip" is interesting.

Grade. Hyundai Santa Fe confirmed: colossal. You can’t reproach him, for example, for insufficiently high-quality finishing materials or poor sound insulation. This is a solid full-size (by Russian standards) all-terrain vehicle that is not afraid of broken roads. Although it is better not to drive it on a more or less serious off-road: 180 mm under the bottom is not enough for this. And I would recommend not to regret the surcharge for diesel engine- he's worth it.

Luxury Style

The Hyundai Santa Fe Premium is a large and comfortable SUV housed in a sporty and elegant body, every detail of which subtly but clearly communicates the model's "luxury" nature. The mere fact of owning such a fine example of automotive art will cheer you up every day.

  • Eleven exterior paint options including trendy shades such as Mystic Beige, Tan Brown, Mineral-Blue, Red Merlot and Ocean view
  • Bright xenon headlights daylight head optics + side lamp that lights up with the turn signal and illuminates the area where you are going to turn + LED rear lights
  • Twin exhaust pipes
  • Rear spoiler with LEDs + plastic rear bumper protection
  • High-gloss black finish around the windows in the spirit of executive sedans

The creators of the SUV took care not only of beauty, but also of the functional component appearance car. Its finely tuned aerodynamic profile reduces fuel consumption and reduces interior noise.

As befits a "luxury" model, the car provides its passengers with an incredible level of comfort. Even more comfortable you can sit on the couch at home.

  • Infinity premium multimedia system with 5" TFT color display, radio, CD/MP3, USB, AUX, iPOD connectors, equalizer, six speakers and Bluetooth for mobile phone connection
  • Combination of natural and artificial leather in the trim of the seats and doors. Three interior color options: black, grey, beige
  • Dual-zone climate control with air ionization system + automatic anti-fogging system
  • Heated steering wheel, front and rear seats
  • Panoramic glass roof and deep tinted rear windows

Spacious interior, high-quality finishing materials, well-thought-out ergonomics of every detail and the use of the most advanced technologies in the field of comfort - these are the secrets of Santa Fe Premium's success.

Electronic systems

The Santa Fe Premium SUV is equipped with the largest number of various electronic assistant systems among all models that can now be officially bought on the domestic automotive market. Modern technologies applied in this SUV will make the process of driving simple, convenient and safe.

  • Emergency Brake Assist (BAS) - when the pedal is pressed hard, but not completely, the system is activated, which automatically “squeezes” the brake, resulting in a braking distance in an emergency reduced by 45%
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - prevents skidding by controlling wheel torque
  • Hill Descent Assist (DBC) - provides a smooth and even descent, controlling the speed at a level of no more than 10 km / h
  • Hill Start Assist (HAC) - Prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when driving uphill
  • Stability Management System (VSM) - responsible for maintaining maximum traction for each of the four wheels
  • Intelligent Parking Assistance System (SPAS)
  • Advanced Stability Control (ATCC) - distributes traction to the four drive wheels during frequent acceleration and cornering

There are so many electronic technologies in the Hyundai Santa Fe Premium, each of which takes on part of the work of the driver, that it seems - add a couple more, and the car will become completely autonomous.
