Still, it's good when the fruits of restyling are immediately noticeable, otherwise the designers sometimes overreact so that you don't understand right off the bat whether the new version of the car is in front of you or the pre-reform one. With the X-Trail, everything is immediately clear: the facelift program, although standard, but the designers did not become modest, drawing the crossover's face with corners. And if the car flaunts a bright orange color, then it is absolutely impossible to make a mistake: before such a color in the palette there was no "cunning" at all.

The headlights, by the way, have changed not only in shape, but also in content: in expensive versions, they are adaptive and can highlight turns, deflecting the light beam at an angle of up to 15 degrees. It is also worth noting the radiator grill - more precisely, the emblem, which is held on a glass substrate: behind it is the collision avoidance radar. In general, there are more electronics in Nissan: in addition to the aforementioned safety complex with an autobraking function, the X-Trail received an obstacle detection system when driving reverse... Sensing something is wrong, the car will give an alarm signal, but it will not stop itself, although some competitors already offer such a service.

The tailgate was powered before, but now it is possible to open it with a "pendel" by swiping your foot under the rear bumper. It does not matter whether the central lock is open or closed - the main thing is that the key is in your pocket. You can also close the trunk with your feet.

A lot of good

At first glance, the interior has not changed much - except perhaps for the steering wheel, which is now with a "jammed" rim underneath. Leather trim is rough, but for Japanese car this is in the order of things. And so - the steering wheel is like a steering wheel. Yes! Heated as of the SE +, which is really good news. And here's another reason for joy: the heated rear sofa. However, this message has a slight bitterness: firstly, there is no division into right and left seats - after turning on the heating, the entire sofa heats up. Well, like the rest - a pillow and a back to the waist. However, this is quite enough. But here's what confuses (and this is secondly): the heating key is located on the tunnel between the front seats, and you can't really turn it on from the back sofa. Nissan engineers are well aware that this is strange and inconvenient, but at this stage they cannot do anything: otherwise, a significant part of the wiring will have to be redrawn, and this is troublesome and also costly.

By the way, so that the electrician resignedly pulled all these "heating pads", instead of the 150A generator, they installed a more powerful one - 180A. This, in particular, made it possible to increase the heating operation time. windshield.

Show what's hidden

You won't be able to see individual improvements, but you can feel them by taking a ride in the car. The engineers have worked very thoroughly for the sake of greater silence in the cabin: the sound insulation of the engine shield, front fenders and sills has been strengthened; added noise-absorbing materials under the dashboard and in the trunk floor area; additional inserts appeared in the thresholds, and vibration dampers on the floor panels. Finally, plastic shields were installed under the bottom and all configurations, without exception, were equipped with an acoustic windshield - before it was installed only on diesel versions.

In parallel with the upgrade of the "Shumka" in Nissan, the driving characteristics of the crossover were also furiously modified - this turned into a significant alteration of the chassis. The steering has undergone a serious revision: a stiffer steering shaft, other electric power-assisted calibrations - these measures were supposed to increase the steering information content and make the zero clearer (teaser: it turned out). And the stabilizers were also replaced. lateral stability, which have become thicker by a millimeter each: in front there is now a "bar" with a diameter of 24 mm, and at the back - 17 mm. Finally, cars in expensive trim levels (SE Top, LE, LE Top) are equipped with summer tires Pirelli Scorpion Verde instead of the all-season Yokohama Geolandar G91. I almost forgot: the top version of the LE Top now has 19-inch wheels - before the "cunning" had a maximum of "eight". The design of the discs, of course, has also been updated.

The power units remained the same: these are petrol “fours” 2.0 and 2.5 with a capacity of 144 and 171 liters. With. respectively, as well as a 1.6-liter diesel engine (130 hp). The diesel engine is combined only with mechanics and all-wheel drive; 2-liter petrol can be front-wheel drive (both "on fur" and with a variator) or 4WD (only with CVT); and the most powerful 2.5 implies four-wheel drive and a CVT by default.

Both petrol engines, in combination with the continuously variable transmission, were recalibrated, and in the case of the 2-liter engine, the variator also received a new torque converter - all this was started for the sake of a more linear response to the accelerator.

Another ride

There is definitely an effect of all the measures taken, especially when it comes to comfort, which has moved to a new level. The cabin is now noticeably quieter in all driving modes, and the ride has become softer: the crossover is more rounded on irregularities, or something. True, at first, on a very decent-looking asphalt, I managed to feel a certain high-frequency tremor of the body, as if the car had all the wheels pumped, but later I either stopped paying attention to this, or it was all about the peculiarities of the road surface. But on a bad road or even on a lane covered with stones, the X-Trail runs easily and painlessly, demonstrating a decent ride, coupled with the proper energy consumption. On the Crimean serpentines, the rolls do not particularly draw attention to themselves - which means that replacing the stabilizers with new ones (they are 18% stiffer) also went to the crossover's benefit.

But I did not feel any special profit from other variator settings. In theory, he should more convincingly simulate the operation of the machine, as if switching between virtual stages, but it really looks like nothing more than an imitation: the variator essence still crawls out of all the cracks. This, however, is not too annoying - the sound insulation has improved! And there are no special problems with the linearity of responses: in general, thrust control does not raise questions.

With the update of its bestseller (and the X-Trail is sold in Russia even better than Kashkai), Nissan delayed a little: the American counterpart of the "cheat" called Rogue announced a facelift more than two years ago. However, the engineers did not waste time and were able to turn a banal restyling into a thorough modernization, making the crossover better in many respects. Against the background of the scale of the changes, the grown price looks moderate: 35 thousand rubles at the present time is quite a modest increase.

In 2018, the second restyling of the third generation entered the Russian market Nissan x-trail T32. From the side, everything is about the same. The shapes are mostly smooth, but not without sharpness. The inflated wheel arches are massively chamfered and thin black plastic protection. At the bottom, the sills are complemented by a chrome line. Chrome is embedded on the door handles, roof rails and window frame edging. Sharp lines are present in the back, but they are minimal.

The feed of the crossover has received modified lights with LED filling. The upper section of the boot lid is complemented by an anti-wing for aerodynamics. The front seats are heated and look slightly sporty due to a little lateral support. The back sofa is just as comfortable with a folding armrest. There is also a third row of seats for two passengers. Cup holders are inserted there, but there is no need to talk about free space at all - its minimum is at the back, in line with the rest of the rows.

The driver of the 2018-2019 Nissan X-Trail gets a 3-spoke D-shaped steering wheel with chrome lines and buttons. The steering wheel is adjustable for reach and height. The pair is a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT variator. The moment is transmitted in the younger version to the front wheels, and the older ones receive the ALL Mode 4x4i all-wheel drive system, which transfers power to the rear wheels when slipping through an automatic clutch.

We managed to test it on the lands of an amazing region, the Republic of Karelia. It is impossible to describe its roads: gambling turns, sharp descents and ascents. Cracked asphalt, compacted snow and ice lumps give us the opportunity to test the car's handling, suspension and drive. The new Nissan X Trail is not just an updated crossover, it is, as many auto critics say, Qashqai off-road... It is more spacious and safer.

On a snowy road, the X Trail runs best in economy mode. In it, the gas pedal is damped, which makes the reactions to pressing more careful, smooth. The car is also equipped with an Eco mode, but it is not so easy to find it: it is hidden near the headlight washer and the stabilization button.

Nissan engineers said they were trying to combine Chinese softness and European handling in the Russian version of this crossover. On tarmac surfaces, the SUV is more enjoyable to drive than on its predecessor. However, for bumpy terrain and country roads, the suspension of the Nissan X Trail is a bit unsuitable - it's harsh. On a road with large holes, the suspension responds very loudly to rebound, on small stones it vibrates.

If we take a test car, then literally a few hours later from the strongest shaking, the plafond began to "walk", it was not possible to eliminate this annoying problem manually. This can be explained by the fact that the production of the X-Trail at the plant in the northern capital of our country began quite recently. The other test machine did not show such problems. The car runs much better on studded tires, on which the rumble from the road is not audible so clearly. The manufacturer plans to additionally integrate seals between the sill and the edge of the door so that the latter does not get dirty and increase the rear view.

The transmission of the new X-Trail

The new version of this car is built on the platform of its older brother, but received new power units and an upgraded transmission. Also, the new Nissan X-Trail received a 210 mm ground clearance (ground clearance). However, such changes led to some deplorable acquisitions: due to the increased wheelbase and straight front overhang, the geometry of the car has deteriorated significantly.

On the track, this crossover keeps a stiff upper lip, but sometimes it catches large irregularities with a bumper.

The advantage of the Nissan X-Trail over Qashqai is the so-called "downhill assist".

As soon as the car catches a diagonal hanging, it starts to brake, and if you press on the gas, it starts to interlock the drive and driven discs. The rear camera is equipped with washers that automatically rid it of dirt, the "all-round" function provides the most precise maneuvering.

Vehicle power

If we compare the Nissan X-Trail with its closest competitor, namely Qashqai, there is a faster response to the response of the accelerator and variator buttons. Acceleration is not so extended, although the car is a little heavier, it accelerates to 100 km / h 1.5 seconds faster. You also need to say about the required steering effort - it has become more verified. The new version of the Nissan X-Trail with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine has become much more powerful - 171 horsepower against 144.

The operation of the variator gearbox has become more stable and faster, the car has become more responsive to pressing the gas pedal. The updated suspension has become softer, the configuration of the car has also become denser. In general, the new X Trail has become solid. The difference between the chassis of the new and the old Nissan is small, as is the engine consumption: now, for 100 km / h, the 2.5-liter engine has enough 11 liters of 92nd gasoline. Refueling with such fuel became possible only due to the engine with distributed injection.

In the previous version of the X Trail, the diesel version was equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the gasoline versions were equipped with a variator. The new version of the crossover with a diesel engine now only comes with a six-speed manual. Models with a variator equipped with a reinforced plate are also produced, but they do not plan to officially sell such versions in Russia.

The volume of the updated diesel engine is very modest by the standards of a crossover, 1.6 liters with a capacity of 150 horsepower. The maximum torque has not changed: it remained as it was 320 Newton meters. It should be noted that the new X Trail has become a little faster and more ergonomic, reduced, and the view from the windshield has increased.

The engineers managed to supplement the Nissan and recreate the new version of the X Trail almost from scratch. The updated car began to look more modern and more comfortable. However, it should be noted that he lost his individuality. In defense, we can only say that it fully meets all the requirements of urban residents for crossovers. First of all, X Trail will be loved by those for whom constant trips to the country or nature are the norm.

Engines and transmission

In the line of power units of the crossover, there are two gasoline internal combustion engines:

The four-cylinder QR25DE engine is a real long-liver, since it appeared back in 1999 and was installed on the very first Nissan X-Trail. The motor has got a new block head with holes for injectors (previously the injectors were installed on the manifold), a system for changing the phases on the intake and exhaust valves, and an intake tract with an adjustable length. All wheel drive Nissan X-Trail

The all-wheel drive design does not provide for the presence of full-fledged locks for the front and rear differentials. Electronic imitation of cross-wheel locks is performed by braking a slipping wheel.
